Astronomy and Space

Astronomy and Space in cooperation with the Communications and Space Technology Authority

Astronomy and space science is the science that studies and researches from the atom to the galaxy. An astronomer and space scientist must be passionate about other disciplines; such as: mathematics, physics, chemistry and statistics.
As we sail together in the Kingdom of God, and dive into the depths of space, we will get to know our stars, and from them we will determine our directions, and we will use our astronomical telescopes, our computer programs, and our mathematical methods to learn about the sun, the moon, and our planets.

We will dive into the interior of our sun and the stars, and learn what happens inside them, and we will wander inside galaxies and nebulae, and we will travel at the speed of light to learn how the universe expands.

Aims to

1- Developing the Kingdom’s capabilities in the space sector through talented male and female students in this field.
2- Strengthening the Kingdom’s international standing and highlighting the qualitative contributions made by talented students in the field of space.
3- Enhancing interest in astronomy, space, and related subjects such as engineering, science, and technology.
4- Increasing the number of specialists in this field and giving them the opportunity to be creative in this field.
5- Guiding the next generation to apply the theories studied in mathematics and science disciplines in the technologies specialized in astronomy and space.

Future study areas in space and astronomy

  1. Astronomy
  2. Physics
  3. Space engineering
  4. Aerospace Engineering
  5. Vehicle Engineering
  6. Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering

Space flights of Saudi Arabia

Our country seeks to achieve leadership and future development in the field of space, by working to prepare and qualify specialists in space technologies and systems through national and international cooperation in research and development programs, technology transfer and localization.

The journey of His Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman

In 1985, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud became the first Arab Muslim astronaut when he participated in a space mission aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery.
The mission included preparing a map showing the extent of the spread and distribution of X-rays emitted from cosmic sources located at the center of the Milky Way, and studying the characteristics of the black hole located at the center of our galaxy.
With the blessed vision of Vision 2030 led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman - may God protect him - which focuses on making the Kingdom a leader in all areas, in light of this, the Saudi astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Al-Qarni participated in the scientific trip to the International Space Station (ISS) on May 21, 2023 AD.
