The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba", in a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, won 10 international awards and ranked 13th out 35 countries- representing by 318 students- , raising its award balance in this competition to 75 awards, including gold medals and honorable mentions.
This achievement came after a series of achievements of the country's male and female gifted students in international competitions and forums, the latest of which was the Regeneron Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2022), reaching a historic and unprecedented achievement by winning 22 international awards. The KSA's team of mathematics, physics and chemistry has been on the podiums in several international Olympiads during the current May and increases the country's balance of international awards.
During its twelfth consecutive participation, the KSA's team of mathematics won 7 medals (3 silver + 4 bronze) and honorable mentions, as the silver medals have been won by the students: Hadi Alaithan of Al Alhsa Education Department, Mohammed Al Dubaisi of Eastern Province Education Department and Marwan Al Khayat of Makkah Education Department. The bronze medals have been won by Moaz Al Ghamdi of Makkah Education Department, Abdulelah Altaf of Eastern Province Education Department, Iyad Al Qatari of Eastern Province Education Department and Mohammed Hafez of Madinah Education Department. The honorable mentions have been achieved by the students Moaz Al Qahtani of Riyadh Education Department, Mahdi Al Baik of Eastern Province Education Department and Abdulrahman Nassif of Madinah Education Department.
The participants have been selected of the members of the Saudi team, whose training began more than 3 years ago by an elite group of distinguished national and international instructors, after a series of controlled tests.
The KSA balance is 3 gold, 8 silver, 27 bronze medals and 37 honorable mentions before this edition of the Asian and Pacific Mathematics Competition.
The KSA ranked thirteenth in the Asian and Pacific Mathematics Olympiad of 2022, which is the best position in the series of the KSA's students' annual participation in this competition, as it joined it in 2011.
