The Saudi informatics team has secured two international awards at the 31st Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (BOI) 2024, held in Macedonia from September 20 to 26, with 62 students representing 15 countries.
From the Qassim Education Department, student Imad Ali Al-Harbi received a bronze medal, while student Moaz Muhammad Al-Qarni, from the Bisha Education Department, earned a certificate of honor.
The team achieved these honors after a preparation and qualification journey at the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in partnership with the Ministry of Education. The team underwent thousands of training hours, guided by an elite group of Saudi and international trainers and experts.
This was Saudi Arabia's second participation in the BOI. With today's results, its total in this competition has become seven international awards.
The BOI is an annual competition organized by countries surrounding the Balkan Peninsula, where high school students with programming experience compete.
