326 Students Advance from Mawhoob to Mawhiba International Olympiad Program to Compete For International Competitions

King Abdulaziz & His Companions Foundation for Giftedness & Creativity "Mawhiba" announced the nomination of 326 male and female students from various regions of the Kingdom out of 32,000 who paticipated in the 2021 Mawhoob competition, to continue training and qualifying for scientific competitions and represent the Kingdom in international competitions in 6 scientific fields.

Yesterday, the Foundation, sponsored and attended by HE. Dr. Saud Al-Mathami -Mawhiba Secretary General, celebrated the announcement of the top-ranked students and the names of the candidates who will proceed to the next stage: the Winter Training Camp which will be held at the Royal Commission for Jubail, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) next January.

In His speech at the ceremony, HE. Dr. Saud Al-Mathami -Mawhiba Secretary General, invited the students, their parents, and teachers to benefit from Mawhiba programs, first and foremost the National Program for Gifted Identificati​on, which is the key for measuring students' abilities and scientific potential, thus facilitating their development.

In addition, the test of the Mawhoob Competition​​​ for the next Winter Camp is the first student steps in preparation for international competitions in the Mawhiba International Olympiad Program, where they will begin a trip of scientific training camps in preparation for joining the Saudi team at the International Olympiad.

The top-rated students of the Mawhoob 2 competition won 64 medals; including 8 gold, 17 silver and 39 bronze.

More than 32,000 students were enrolled in the competition, of whom 2731 student were nominated for training that ended with a Mawhoob 2 Test. 326 students were qualified for the Winter Camp. The  nominated students represented 102 government schools and 116 community schools from 20 school districts.

“Mawhoob Competition" is the most important channel through which gifted individuals are identified and detected to be nurtured and motivatted; implementing the Local Content Building Initiative and achieving the targets of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. It is also a part of the Mawhiba International Olympiad Program, targeting Saudi public education students from the sixth primary grade to the first secondary grade.

“Mawhoob Competition" is an annual competition, organized by Mawhiba, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, to identify the skills of outstanding students, provide the opportunity to as much of them as possible to to join the Olympic training at the basic stages, and push the educational field towards more effort to develop the teaching of mathematics, science and informatics along with its fields.
