Student Mahmoud Moataz Ahmed Ghulman was able to honor the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in several forums, and with various achievements, to reflect the image of the distinguished student not only at the level of the Kingdom but also at the level of the Arabian Gulf.

The latest of these achievements was his obtaining the title of Distinguished Student in the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance in its thirteenth session, thus marking a new achievement to be added to the record of Saudi achievements.

Ghulam says about his victory: He was surprised by the news of his victory through a phone call from the award team while he was in the Eastern Province to participate in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity “Ibd’a”, as he had completely forgotten about the award due to his preoccupation with the Olympiad events.

Regarding the Creativity Olympiad, Ghulman says: “He participated in the scientific research track with a study on finding a new formula for treating cancer, and won sixth place out of 123 participating research projects.

He added: "He had previously obtained a patent from the US Patent Office for his invention, the 'Hearing Glasses', following his participation in the 2010 Innovation Exhibition."

Mahmoud tells the story of his invention, saying that he felt a desire to help the deaf, and searched for many solutions to alleviate their suffering, until he came up with the idea of the hearing glasses, which are digital glasses that convert speech into readable text.

Mahmoud, a student of the Mawhiba Initiative for Partnership with Schools, appreciates the efforts of the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) for the care, support and opportunities it has provided.

His winning of second place in the ISEF Science and Engineering Fair at the Kingdom level, and his obtaining of second place also at the Arab world level, and then his qualification for the Intel competitions in the United States of America, were weighty in his achievements file that helped him deserve the title.

It is worth mentioning that the student Mahmoud Ghulman, like all students, practices swimming and horse riding, plays tennis and basketball, loves drawing and reading, and is creative in photography and Arabic calligraphy. However, he also set aside part of his time to devote it to scientific research, innovation and robot programming, and made it one of his favorite hobbies, so he deserved to be distinguished with merit.
