Talented Ibrahim Abdel Moneim Omar says about his experience in Mawhiba’s international enrichment programs 2017: “The enrichment programs were an important element in my journey with the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba). The enrichment programs contributed to enriching my academic and cognitive content and refining my personality little by little.
In high school, I participated in an international program at the University of Toronto in Canada, where I learned about the most important basics of medicine and health sciences and received several pieces of advice from international experts and professors at the university. This year (2017), I participated in another international program at Dublin City University, and in this year’s program, I learned about a number of the basic topics that doctors rely on in the operating room and in diagnosing diseases.
Through my journey with the enrichment programs, I met friends from different countries of the world, such as France, Japan, the United States of America, Canada, Ireland, and Spain.
Regarding the change in his daily schedule through these programs during the summer vacation, Ibrahim points out that his daily schedule during his enrollment in the program was crowded with daily activities that students attend instead of the academic hours that each student should complete daily in the classrooms. As a result of this crowded schedule, he gradually began to adapt to the program schedule. Upon his return to the Kingdom after the program ended, he noticed that his schedule was no longer as crowded as it was during the program period, so he began to add additional daily tasks to his schedule so that he could feel the pleasure of accomplishment every day, whether through participating in online training courses or conducting some experiments related to his research at the university in his current city.
Regarding the nature of the programme that Ibrahim joined, he said: “The CTY-I programme, which I participated in, was an academic programme that revolved entirely around academic study. During the programme, I learned the basics of general surgery and disease diagnosis. In addition, I received an introduction to organ anatomy.”
He added that his participation in this program contributed to enriching his academic level by qualifying him cognitively. The program also contributed to determining his academic inclinations by giving him an overview of the specialty of medicine and surgery, which greatly attracted his attention towards it since it is the specialty he will study at the university level. It is not an experience that ends once the program ends, but rather an experience that extends until the last moments of your life, in which you get to know new friends from all over the world with new cultures and unfamiliar customs.
