Haifa Mohammed Al-Anzi, an eighteen-year-old student at the Fourteenth High School, who lives in the heart of Hail, was able to overcome distances and obstacles and invent a way to extract smoke from a fire outside the building, achieving victory with her innovation at the Kingdom level, where she won fourth place in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibd’a), specifically in the innovation track, last March.
Pain = New Opportunity! Haifaa.. When she thought of this innovation, she hoped that it would be a solution for those who suffocate during fires, giving them a greater chance of moving to a safe place, which she hopes will contribute to saving many lives.
With this achievement, Haifa was able to go beyond the method of dealing with pain and problems that ends in pain and regret, to another effective and productive method. She did not stop at the news of the fires and cry over those who were consumed by their flames and fumes. Rather, she thought about how to save those who were destined to live the same experience, and how to emerge with the least human losses!
Seek help from an expert: Some people believe that in order to succeed, they must rely on themselves completely, and that seeking help from an expert is like climbing on someone else’s shoulder. There is a complete difference between the two concepts. Seeking help from an expert does not necessarily mean that you are relying on him, and it does not deny you the right to attribute success to yourself, as many do not succeed on their own. Those who did not seek help from experts, read books, or a scientific website on the Internet.
This is what Haifa did. She did not stop at the obstacles she faced in her research. She did not despair in the face of the distances separating her from opportunities. She never raised the flag of surrender. Rather, she searched and searched until she was able to communicate with Professor Fahd Saleh Al-Anzi, who holds a master’s degree in the field of environment, biology and pollution, to verify the validity of her idea. He provided her with the most important information that greatly helped her in her innovation.
Haifa Al-Anzi's innovation:
Fire protection pipes: These are pipes connected to smoke extractors fixed in the ceiling, and connected to a smoke sensor. When a fire breaks out, the device begins to sense the smoke, then sounds the alarm, and sends a signal to the smoke extractor, which then begins its work by extracting the smoke and sending it through the pipes outside the site. The device operates via a rechargeable battery or a special generator to avoid power outages.
My mother and father: Haifa says.. In addition to everything, my mother and father were the first to have the credit for my reaching this stage of thinking and academic success.. She added: My father, Mohammed Al-Anzi, and my mother, Professor Nawal Al-Anzi.. They have a caring hand that they pat me with in times of need, pushing me forward with more determination and confidence.. With them I am better, more confident and more accomplished, praise be to God..
Trouble! Haifa did not get fourth place easily and smoothly, she did not receive the flag while walking on the red carpet with elegance and calmness.. Rather, there was a lot of tension, work, seriousness and difficult tasks.. which made her forget the key to the drawer where she hides her papers and creative tools. Minutes later, the judging committee passed by to see her project.. The situation was a mess.. and her dreams were almost shattered on the rock of tension.. However, she took a quick stand with the help of one of the volunteers, and they broke the door, so she was able to benefit from her necessary tools..!
A dream! But her most beautiful dream will remain to see her innovation implemented in reality, and to hear that someone survived thanks to God and then her innovation, and to have a Science Olympiad competition for university students as well, because they are no different from high school students in ability, desire, creativity and innovation. Haifa’s achievement for her was a beautiful dream. My most beautiful dream is to see my innovation implemented in reality, and to hear that someone survived thanks to God and then her innovation.
