She is Fatima Ghassan Hassan Al-Ajaji.
A lunar eclipse happened.. so she loved science and became attached to it..
At an early age, she began reading and researching... until her personality was shaped to become an honorable model for a Saudi girl, which impressed the Director of UNESCO during her visit to the Kingdom, so much so that she predicted a wonderful future for Fatima that would take her to the world.
What the UNESCO Director-General expected happened, as Fatima recently won third place in the field of materials engineering and bioengineering at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2012. She is considered the first Saudi woman to win this award in this field for her research: “A Flexible and Transparent Memory Device.”
This achievement is the culmination of Fatima’s previous achievements in which she excelled at the local level, where she won second place in the Scientific Olympiad (Creativity) in the scientific research track 2012, and was one of the participants in the first batch of distinguished students at the Saudi Institute for Research Sciences for the summer of 1432 AH, affiliated with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
She also qualified for the second stage of the Physics Olympiad in 1431 AH, and also qualified for the second stage of the Taif Olympiad Forum in 1432 AH. While in the intermediate stage, she won first place in the SciTech Center (Prince Sultan Center for Science and Technology) English Language Competition in 1429 AH at the Eastern Province level.
My brother, the first reason!
Fatima grew up in a family that loved science and knowledge, and was passionate about reading and learning. This fostered her scientific curiosity, made her enjoy books, and loved learning about everything new.
“Positivity… encouragement… care,” says Fatima. “With these words, I can describe the role my family played for me, and this role was very sufficient for me to reach where I am today, thanks to the grace of God Almighty.”
Fatima confirms that she is very lucky to have her brother Saif Ghassan Al Ajaji, who was her role model in excellence and distinction, as he was one of the distinguished students in Japan, and he always encouraged her to learn and learn about modern scientific developments. He encouraged her, supported her, and always told her that the impossible is possible, and that difficult things are doable. His successful scientific experience was a positive example for her.
The researcher does not succeed alone:
Fatima says that a researcher does not succeed alone, especially if he is still a student. There are always green hands on the path of every successful researcher who take him by the hand, support him and help him. Therefore, she is very grateful to her parents and family, and she is also grateful to her school and teachers who were always with her. They provided the support, advice and encouragement that she desperately needed as a researcher participating in a global competition.
She is also grateful, as she says, to “the one with the greatest credit,” the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), thanks to which she took her first step on the path of scientific research. Thanks to the Foundation’s care, after God, she discovered her talent and developed it until she reached the level at which she was able to compete with talented people from different countries of the world.
National message:
Fatima says that she is indebted to her country for her talent, and that her ambition is to reflect its image in an honorable way, and to be able to invest her talent to the extent that contributes to its development and progress!
