Faisal Ibrahim Al Salem is a high school student who entered a summer program and drew a story of achievement in the field of electronic circuits. A family close to him was exposed to a fire accident, so he produced two innovations to reduce similar accidents. He was truly an example to be followed for the creative young man.

Faisal says that his passion for working on and studying electronic circuits began after he participated in one of Mawhiba’s summer full-time programs, which was held at the College of Engineering - Department of Electronics Engineering - at Taibah University in 1430 AH - 2009 AD, and continued for a full month, during which he worked with his colleagues on a number of electronic circuits under the supervision of a specialized professor.

Inspiration is not enough to produce innovation.. Rather, research, thinking and hard work are required. What made Faisal a distinguished student is that he transformed the knowledge he acquired in a month into a passion. He continued to research, think and work in the field of electronic circuits even after the program ended, until he was able to implement his second innovation in 1432 AH - 2011 AD, which is “I am burning”.

First innovation: I am burning

The idea of this innovation revolves around an electrical circuit that contributes to preventing fire accidents, as this circuit recognizes indicators of the possibility of a fire, and then alerts at the appropriate time, allowing others to take preventive measures.

A family close to him was involved in a fire accident, so he came up with two innovations to reduce similar accidents. Faisal, a student at Al-Taqwa Schools in Riyadh, attributes the idea of the innovation to long thinking and a serious desire to do something to help reduce tragic fire accidents, especially after an entire family close to him died in a fire that broke out in their home, aided by his knowledge of electronic and electrical circuits.

Al Salem was able to qualify with his idea to the finals of the National Olympiad “Creativity” - which was recently held by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation “Mawhiba” in the Eastern Province in cooperation with the Ministry of Education - and finally obtained third place at the Kingdom level.

  Innovation 2: The Rescue Building

But “I am Burning” was not Faisal’s first innovation, nor was his victory in the Creativity Olympiad his first achievement, as he was able to win second place in the Scientific Innovations Competition with his innovation “The Rescue Building”, which was organized by the Education Department at the level of schools in the Riyadh region in 1429 AH - 2008 AD.

The idea of the “Rescue Building” addresses the problem of rescuing people trapped in high-rise buildings during fires. This innovation revolves around an innovative construction idea that can withstand fires for dozens of hours, making it a haven that contains the detainees and provides them with protection, food, and first aid until the fire is extinguished and they are reached.

His education and culture

Faisal did not present any of his innovations based on a moment of inspiration alone. All of his innovations reflect specialized knowledge, a high sense of problems, and the ability to provide creative solutions. Such knowledge and abilities are not usually inherited by an individual, but rather are the result of a conscious upbringing. This is exactly what the biography of the student Faisal Al Salem reflects, as well as the number of diverse knowledge and skills he studied and practiced.
