The story of Alaa Al-Obaid and Aisha Al-Ghazwani was inspiring enough for her to become an inventor, and to get the third gold medal at the Asian Young Inventors Exhibition AYIE 2012 in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
She is Amal Al Zahrani, from Al Khobar, winner of the Scientific Excellence Award at the Eastern Province level. Her story began on the school radio platform, when she learned in the second grade about the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity “Ibd’a”. From that platform, Amal’s dreams and plans to reach the podium at the Olympiad began.
Amal thought of many projects, but the death of Alaa Al-Obaid and Aisha Al-Ghazwani after their abayas got stuck in their car was so painful that she did not allow herself to think about another problem! She realized that this was the right opportunity and the right time to devote her efforts to solving a real problem. If she won, she would have accomplished something, and if she did not win, she would have provided a service to the world and saved the lives of many! But she did not expect that she would go beyond the local podium to obtain the gold medal in an international exhibition the size of the Asian Exhibition for Young Inventors.
Amal Al Zahrani's innovation:
A device to detect fabrics hanging or stuck in the car door:
This device is useful for detecting any fabrics hanging from the car, such as cloaks and others. It aims to preserve the lives of the car passengers and prevent the risk of the fabric wrapping around the car wheels.
The secret of success: Amal says that the secret of her success goes back to her nature from the beginning, as she always sought excellence, and was concerned with ensuring that her achievements were perfect, and this explains many of her decisions, as she chose to change the school she was used to to another school that applies the curriculum system because she saw in it a better development of her abilities and skills.
In addition, Mona believes that the secret of her success is also due to all the supportive people around her, including family, friends, and teachers. It is also due to the strength of faith within her that whoever seeks something will inevitably obtain it if he believes in God and searches for the reasons for success.
Amal strongly believes that success does not happen by chance, but rather is the result of a plan, ambition, trust in God, and a supportive family!
