About the program

​​​​​​​​​​The Mawhiba Program for Scientific Research Basics aims the skills necessary to provide applied solutions to research problems in various fields.

This program targets students in middle and secondary school, with two different versions for each academic stage.

This program will provide a systematic and comprehensive series of training courses to develop students’ research skills, and build and develop their research capabilities by introducing the scientific research methodology and methods under the supervision of distinguished research cadres.

Objectives

  • Providing diverse training opportunities for talented students to discover and develop their talents and abilities through participation in various academic fields and targeted enrichment activities and programs.
  •  Providing gifted students with the opportunity to delve into research areas that are compatible with their abilities and mental readiness.
  • Training on mechanisms for arriving at new scientific facts through the use and employment of scientific research skills, tools and processes, analyzing phenomena and problems, and seeking to find realistic and practical solutions to them.
  • Identifying logical solutions to problems by engaging students in the skills of deconstructing and solving the problem through scientific research, presenting hypotheses, observations, etc.

Program duration

It runs for eight weeks during the semester, with weekly meetings lasting four hours.

Target group

Students of the National Program for Giftedness Identification from the first intermediate grade to the second secondary grade

 

Program registration requirements 

  1. The student must be of Saudi nationality or have a Saudi mother. 
  2. The remaining non-Saudis will be accepted, not exceeding 10% of the total number of students, provided that the full cost of the program is paid. 
  3. The student must obtain the required score on the Mawhiba scale for multiple mental abilities:
  • Obtaining a score of 1410 or higher for second-level students.
  • Obtaining a score of 1350 or higher for third-level students.
4- If the student is tested for the Mawhiba Scale for Multiple Mental Abilities in Arabic, he/she must obtain one of the following scores for the English language tests as a minimum:

5. The student must register in the Mawhiba Program for Scientific Research Basics through the Mawhiba website.
6. The student must pay the financial contribution after being notified of acceptance into the program, in order for his/her final registration into the program to be approved.
Conditions for completing the program and obtaining the certificate
  • Completing the pre-test (before starting the program) and the post-test (after the program ends).
  • The attendance rate in the program should not be less than 80%.
  • Submitting required assignments on time.
  • Submitting the research proposal at the end of the program (for secondary school only).

Mawhiba's various programs focus on making the student the focus of the teaching and learning process and becoming an active learner who takes the initiative, engages in dialogue, seeks knowledge, develops and designs different situations that support his learning and builds his personality. To achieve this, a set of methods and approaches must be available that are employed in implementing this program, the most important of which are:

•Learning by discovery

• Collaborative work

•Brainstorming and researching different sources. 

•Investigation, dialogue and discussion

•Practical and field application.

•Project-based learning

•Using multimedia applications, including simulation and modeling

When will the Mawhiba Scientific Research Basics Programs be held?

Registration for the program is available during the month of November of each year, and is implemented during the period from January to February of each year.

Is there a specific city where the Mawhiba Research Fundamentals Program will be held?

The program is offered remotely and students can join the program from all cities in the Kingdom with the availability of Internet service.

What does the daily program include?

In order to achieve the program's objectives, it must be emphasized that the practical application and real-life practice of all the program's components, components and activities is the realistic basis on which the program's success depends. Accordingly, the distribution of what will be done will be as follows:

- 30% of the daily implementation content revolves around the cognitive aspect, meaning a set of information and cognitive experiences that help students enrich their knowledge and prepare them to facilitate the building of their scientific and practical experiences.

- 70% of the daily implementation content revolves around the practical and skill application of the program's various components and activities, meaning a set of diverse skill-based learning practices that help students develop and enhance their various research skills

Is there a percentage for the student's attendance to obtain the certificate?
Yes, the student must attend all lectures and activities in the program and will be denied the award of the certificate if his/her attendance rate is less than (80%) of the program hours. It is also permissible, as an exception, to award the certificate to the student if his/her attendance rate is less than (80%) of the program hours if he/she presents an acceptable excuse, provided that the attendance rate is not less than (70%) of the program hours.

 Yes, you must achieve a score of 67 on the STEP English Proficiency Test or its equivalent in similar tests (TOFEL, IELTS, TOEIC).

What is the mechanism for accessing the Mawhiba e-learning platform for the Mawhiba Program for the Fundamentals of Scientific Research, which is offered remotely?

After the student registers and approves him, the student will be sent a username and password to enter the e-learning platform. The student must follow up on the mail to ensure that it has been received and to activate the entry to the platform.
