About the program

Mawhiba offers a set of enrichment programs for gifted and creative students. During these programs,  they receive advanced scientific knowledge and experiences that challenge their abilities, develop their skills, and provide them with appropriate support  for improvement and refinement. According to international methodologies, the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program adopts enriching knowledge, increasing efficiency and readiness, and building scientific and practical experiences. . It includes activities that focus on developing students’ personal skills, preparing them for active and distinguished participation in other programs sponsored and offered by Mawhiba inside and outside Saudi Arabia. These programs contribute to providing nationally recognized capabilities that cover developmental needs, including distinguished cadres with high integration into the local and global labor market.

Program Implementation Mechanism

Online 

The program is implemented online through an e-learning platform that serves gifted students in all regions of Saudi Arabia for students in grades 3 to 11. 


In Person

Full-time: Programs offered to students in grades 9-11. The program provides on-campus housing in leading universities in Saudi cities. Students participate from all Saudi cities and live on campus.

Part-time: Programs offered to students in grades 3-11. These programs are held within the student’s hometown and take place in universities, colleges, leading companies, and distinguished schools. The student must come daily to the program headquarters during the scheduledhours, which last between eight to ten hours per day, except for Friday and Saturday.

The scientific curriculum is based on four tracks , as follows:

Note: Registration for the 2024 program is open from March 6 to May 29, and will be carried out during the period indicated in the registration form.
Eligible for the program
Students of the National Program for Giftedness Identification from the third grade of primary school to the second grade of secondary school.
Registration terms 
1. The student must be of Saudi nationality or have a Saudi mother. The remaining non-Saudis will be accepted, not exceeding 10% of the total number of students.
2. The student must obtain the required score on the Mawhiba scale for multiple mental abilities according to the following table:

3. The student must register through the Enrichment Programs Registration Portal, specify the type of program, and complete the registration stage.

You can apply for a partial exemption from the financial contribution value for registration in the programs through the registration system if you belong to one of the following categories, provided that supporting documents are attached to verify the validity of the application. 
Families registered with social security.
Affiliated with a charitable organization. 
Children of martyrs.
Their status is proven by a legal document (insolvency document).​​​

Program Implementation Timelines

Remote

The programs are based on teaching the (scientific curriculum) for the enrichment units by an elite group of academics at a rate of 75%, in addition to training the skill portfolios for twenty-first century skills at a rate of 25% by trainers specialized in skills training, divided into four hours per day and a total of sixty study hours as follows:

  • Three hours a day for the scientific method .
  • One hour per day for skill bags.
​​Remote Program Schedule

In-person
The programs depend on teaching the (scientific curriculum) for the enrichment units by an elite group of academics at a rate of 67% in addition to training the skill portfolios for twenty-first century skills at a rate of 33% by trainers specialized in skills training, divided into 6 hours per day and a total of 90 study hours as follows:
  • Four hours a day for the scientific method.
  • 2 hours per day for skill bags.

 

Pre- and post-test

The test targets students registered in the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program, and is implemented in the scientific field of the enrichment unit.

Objective of the test: 
1. Knowing the student’s current academic achievement.

2. Measuring the impact of student learning resulting from participation in the program.

General instructions for the pre- and post-test:
1. There is no pass or fail grade for the test.
2. The student is not allowed to retake the test again.

How do I nominate myself/my child/for the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program?

Students of the National Program for Giftedness Identification from the third grade of primary school to the second grade of secondary school who meet the conditions for registration in the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program are automatically nominated.

How do I register myself/my child in the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program?

Registration in the program is available during the period from March to May of each year. The student and his guardian must adhere to the following instructions before registering in the program: -

  1.  Read all the details of the program you wish to join, verify the information, and choose the program that suits you.
  2. You bear the costs of participation and enrollment in the program by paying the value of the guardian’s contribution specified for participation in the program. You must pay within the specified period for registration approval, noting that the registration status changes from suspended to approved after payment.
  3. View the program overview (PDF file) and read all the details included in it.
  4. Read the housing regulations (for the full-time program only), which requires full-time residence at the program headquarters throughout the implementation period and overnight stays in student housing.
When is the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program held?

The program is held during the summer vacation for three weeks as follows:

  1. First period: From 12-24-1445 AH to 12-1-1446 AH corresponding to 6-30-2024 AD to 7-18-2024 AD.
  2. Second period: From 15-1-1446 AH to 4-2-1446 AH corresponding to 21-7-2024 AD to 8-8-2024 AD. In limited locations

What are the methods or approaches used in the Mawhiba academic enrichment program?

Mawhiba’s enrichment programs are based on the student being an active learner around whom all teaching and learning processes revolve, using a set of methods, the most important of which are:

  1. Learning by discovery
  2. Collaborative work
  3. Research
  4. Investigation, dialogue and discussion
  5. Practical exercises
Is there a specific city where the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program will be held?

The program is held in person in several cities, and is also implemented remotely. Students are allowed to register and choose the type of program or city they wish to join.

What does the daily program include?
Basic components of the program:
  1. Specialized enrichment scientific unit.
  2. Practical activities and scientific projects.
  3. 21st Century Skills Activity Bags
  4. The full-time program provides students with housing in addition to three main meals.
Additional components:
  1. Scientific trips or visits.
  2. Snacks during the break.
  3. Closing ceremony to showcase the projects and achievements of the students participating in the program.
Is there a percentage for the student's attendance to obtain the certificate?
Yes, the student must attend all lectures and activities in the program and will be denied the award of the certificate if his/her attendance rate is less than (80%) of the program hours. It is also permissible, as an exception, to award the certificate to the student if his/her attendance rate is less than (80%) of the program hours if he/she presents an acceptable excuse, provided that the attendance rate is not less than (70%) of the program hours.
Can a student change the enrichment unit before the end of the registration period and after completing the payment of the guardian’s contribution?

Yes, it is possible to request a transfer between programs through the registration system if you have an approved registration according to the following conditions: -

  1. A transfer request between programs is only possible once.
  2. The transfer request must be submitted before the end of the registration period for the two programs.
  3. There must be an available seat in the program to which the student wishes to transfer.

In case the course you wish to transfer to requires payment of a “higher financial contribution”:

Steps to make a transfer:

  1. The student selects the icon to request transfer to another course.
  2. Then the student is asked to fill in the banking information.
  3. The student reviews the details of the course to which he/she is requested to transfer. To complete the transfer to the course, the student chooses to pay (requires a seat availability and during the registration period).
  4. The student must pay for the transfer to be successful.
  5. A message appears stating that the process was completed successfully, and the student can view the registration in the “View Participation Requests” icon.

 

In the event that the course to which you wish to transfer does not require payment of an “equal financial contribution”:

Steps to make a transfer:

  1. The student selects the icon to request transfer to another course.
  2. Then the student is asked to fill in the banking information.
  3. The student reviews the details of the course to which he/she is requested to transfer to complete the transfer to the course by clicking on the transfer request icon (requires a seat availability and during the registration period)
  4. A message appears stating that the process was completed successfully, and the student can view the registration in the “View Participation Requests” icon.

 

In the event that the course to which you wish to transfer requires a refund of the difference (lower financial contribution):

Steps to make a transfer:

  1.  The student selects the icon to request transfer to another course.
  2. Then the student is asked to fill in the banking information.
  3. The student reviews the details of the course to which he/she is requested to transfer to complete the transfer to the course by clicking on the transfer request icon (requires a seat availability and during the registration period)

What are the targeted academic stages for entry into academic enrichment programs?

Students qualified by the National Program for the Identification of Gifted Students from the third grade of primary school to the second grade of secondary school who meet the conditions for registration in the Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program.

What is the language of the program?
The units are offered in Arabic, and some are offered in English. It is preferable for those selected to be fluent in English.
Is an English language test required to register for units offered in English?

The student is not required to have a score on one of the English language tests to register for the program, but the student is required to be proficient in the English language.

What are the types of the academic enrichment program for the year 2024 AD?
remote:

Programs offered to students from the third grade of primary school to the second grade of secondary school remotely through an e-learning platform that serves talented students from all regions of the Kingdom.

 

In-person:
Free:

Programs offered to students from the third year of middle school to the second year of high school only. These programs are held in universities on a full-boarding basis throughout the program period, and students come from all regions of the Kingdom to participate in them and stay in university housing.

 

Part-time:

Programs offered to students from the third grade of primary school to the second grade of secondary school. These programs are held in distinguished universities, colleges and schools, with a daily attendance system at the program headquarters during program hours, which serves talented students in the cities where the programs are held.

Can a student register for the morning and evening periods of the remote program during the period from June 30 to July 18?

The student cannot register due to conflicting implementation dates. The student is allowed to choose the appropriate period for him/her during registration.

Who are the students who are eligible for partial exemption from the financial contribution value?
